Sergei Ryakhovsky was born in Shchelkovo, Moscow Region, in 18 March, 1956, the eldest of ten children in a bishop family. He is an Evangelical Christian and a minister of the church in the fourth generation.
In 1978 he was ordained as a deacon. In 1985 he became a presbyter, in 1991 - the senior presbyter of Moscow Evangelical Christian Church and the President of the Association of Evangelical Christians "Church of God".
Since 1994 - Bishop of the United Evangelical Church, and since 1995 - Bishop of National Association of Evangelical Christians "Church of God". From 1985 till 1990 he was a student of the correspondence Bible Institute. In 1992 he enrolled in postgraduate course of theological seminary "Church of God" (USA), where he graduated in 1993 and received a master's degree in theology.
Currently S. Ryahovsky serves as a pastor in Moscow "Church of God" of Evangelical Christians in Tsaritsyno.
He is a senior Bishop in Russian Union of Christians of Evangelical Faith (Pentecostals), which includes about 1,000 churches.
Co-Chairman of the Advisory Board of Protestant Churches in Russia, member of the board of the Bible Society in Russia.
Since 2002 - Member of the Advisory Council for Cooperation with Religious Associations at the Seat of the President of the Russian Federation.
Member of the Public Chamber of Russian Federation.
He teaches at Moscow Eurasian Theological Seminary "Church of God", the Presbyterian Theological Academy (Moscow), the Russian Academy of Public Service under the President of Russian Federation, other religious and secular educational institutions.
Family: Married, has six children.
